Glossolalia
Sharon Harms (soprano) and Mila Henry (piano)
Live recording from my (Con)temporary (In)sights portrait concert October 22nd, 2016
Glossolalia, which is a term for the religious practice of speaking in tongues, was written for Lucy Dhegrae as part of Voices Up. Voices Up combines music with poetry by the winners of Fordham University’s Poets Out Loud prize. I wrote a melody for Gregory Mahrer’s poem and then put it through a three-step process of deconstructive stretching.
